A DEGREE COLLEGE AND PHILOSOPHATE, RUN BY THE SALESIANS OF DON BOSCO, DIMAPUR PROVINCE, NAGALAND
Salesian College of Higher Education is a govt-recognized unaided, minority educational institution of the Catholic Church, sponsored by the salesians of Don Bosco, Dimapur. Salesian College came into existence on may 25, 1982, primarily as an institution that offered a three year course in Philosophy for the young members of the salesian society and the diocesan seminarians in north-east India. In 1995, the college got affiliated to Nagaland University, as a full-fledged Degree Arts College, opening its doors to other religious congregations of men, women and others, who are desirous of doing their B.A studies. The College offers B.A. Honours in Philosophy, History and English. It has political science and Sociology as elective subjects. Besides, the B.A degree course, the college offers courses in Western and Indian philosophy, World Religions, Bible, Ethics, Christian Theology, Educational Psychology, Social Analysis and Spirituality to the salesians, diocesan seminarians and other religious to complete their philosophical training as part of their religious training. The college also offers B.A. Philosophy under IGNOU. The All round training given by the institution, intends to provide the students with an all-round formation based on christian values. So that they may become catalysts in social transformation, leaders in society and genuine educators of christian faith and values, especially in north-east India.
